CLIENT: Client was local businessman receiving surgery for rotor cuff tear
PROBLEM: After night time surgery the client was wheeled into his room to spend the night in recovery and was ordered to receive a morphine drip for the entire night to alleviate the pain from the surgery. The nurse came in and inadequately hooked up the morphine drip so that the morphine just spilled out onto the floor rather than being received by the patient, client.
SOLUTION: Mr. Bushman brought the matter up before the Division of Occupational Licensing and upon their approval, filed a complaint against the hospital in civil court. Not wanting a trial on the matter the hospital settled with payment to the client for his pain and suffering.
AWARD: Settlement in favor of the client for undisclosed amount.
